day 5

ok so I know I skipped a day... but it's hard to run a family of 5 and a diary every night :)

so lets see... high, well I guess right now would be my high, all 3 kids in bed :), the chips and salsa I just downed, only to be followed up with my youngest son throwing up in his bed - yuck!

no question tonight...not feeling very philosophical, just enjoying the silence ....

day 3

ok so another day another dollar... let's see

highs - deffinately staying up late playing scattegories with my sisters - I really think you should make your friends... family; and your family... your best friends. It's the only way to find true happines.

low - real low to be honest, I guess staying up with a crying infant, but to be honest I'm starting to get used to it :)

todays question...if you have support around you...can you ever really drop the ball?

Day 2

Well what can I say... looong day:)

High - Dinner with my family at Ruby River, the kids were pretty good and I loved not having to cook. I had a 6oz steak with salad (oil and vinegar dressing) and only a small piece of bread. I was pretty good - I have to say.

Low - Deffinately being up with my newborn until 2 in the morning... man I can't wait till she is on a schedule - yeesh!

doing good wih this weeks goal - breakfast has been a nice change for someone who used to eat at 12... :) if breakfast makes such a huge difference, I wonder...

...can small changes to your behavior make the largest differences in your life?

day 1

Ok so how'd I do today?

High - I had my breakfast around 9:20 (it was sunday and I slept in a bit) but I have to say it really started me off well. I felt good, and I had tons of energy this morning. I really think breakfast does have a huge impact on your day!

Low - I think I discovered something tonight that made me sad... I was frustrated with my kids tonight and although they WERE being little turkeys I was a lot less patient than I usually am.
After they all were in bed I sat back and wondered "why do I feel so unhappy tonight?" You know what - I traced it back to a moment after dinner tonight when I was looking through some unflattering photos on my camera, I looked so HUGE in some of the photos I really wanted to cry. I couldn't believe that being over weight actually made THAT kind of impact on my behavior, it got me wondering...

...are fit mothers, better mothers?

oh and that picture....well lets just say, I'm the chunky one on the right with my super cute sisters

Goal - Breakfast

I have grossly underestimated the time restraints of having a 7 week old, and two rambunctious boys, but don't worry I haven't given up hope... just need to attack this one step at a time. So this weeks goal will be all about breakfast -

I will start each day with a healthy PROMPT breakfast, I will eat before 9am.

A "research group analyzed government data on 4,200 adults. They found that regular breakfast eaters were more likely to exercise regularly. And women who ate breakfast regularly tended to eat fewer calories overall during the day. Those men and women who ate breakfast cereal had lower overall fat intake -- compared to those who ate other breakfast foods."

trying lunch

well I tried their Turkey Fiesta poket sandwich today... not too bad. I had it with jalapenos and a little drizzle of homemade ranch. I still was a bit hungry afterwards (those portions are just a bit smaller than I'm used to) but no worries I finished up with some grashopper icecream... I have got to beat this summer sweet tooth!

portion question

well yeaterday, I picked up some more kashi products.. I grabbed some snack bars, cereal and a new frozen entre` to try. I was pretty hungry for the drive home so I grabbed the snack bar...once again it was a bit smaller than I am used to, but was pretty satisfying. I'm starting to wonder if my idea of portions is a bit out of wack... I guess we'll see how today goes.

The First Meal

Well today I tried my first Kashi frozen entre` - the Tuscan Veggie Bake. Not too bad. I don't think I'll crave it in the middle of the night - but it was a pretty decent lunch. I opened the box and my first thought "this is pretty small" but I'm not hungry. Of course I have to admit I ate a sugar cookie while waiting for it to heat up :) hey this is an honest account - my diet diary... and I scraped off half the frosting :)

But I have to say - I think this might work out.

The Plan

I hope to achieve my goals by eating a balanced a diet and increasing my activity. I have made a plan to achieve this seemingly easy task... by turning to Kashi I will utilize their already balanced foods for my breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Then I will focus on light dinners of simple salads, soups etc.

I believe that by focusing on whole grains, simple proteins and balanced friuts and veggies i will not only feel better, but my energy will increase allowing me to pursue the active lifestyle I so desperately want!

Follow my journey as I transform my lifestyle from "heavy homemaker" to "active mommy"... my belief that approaching my weight loss goals with a focus on health instead of weight will not only improve my apprearance but more importantly it will transform my life.

I have turned to Kashi for this transformation because I believe their philosophy of Whole Foods will not only give me the nutrition I need but their 7 whole grains will give me the energy I need too.
