there is no try

for all you star wars fans you might think this little tidbit of wisdom came from a little green wrinkled old man..er... thing... but alas, it actually is an ancient Chinese wisdom - there is no try - only do and do not

for a while there I really focused on the effort regardless of the results, well this week in the utter chaos that is my home, (my infant daughter is crazy sick, we're packing, and my hubby is trying to work graveyards...yeesh) I realized the effort is never good enough. We live in the realm of what is and is not. So results, my friends, are the only thing that holds value... bad, or good it is still the tangible by which we measure worth....

what do you guys think?
results or effort...

so starting today - damn the schedules, the good intentions or the "I'll try"'s I will do the best I can, and DO what I decide is most important :)

oh and as for my HOT 100 update - don't ask; I haven't slept all week, only worked out once, and diet...well I ate whenever I could, whatever I had - sorry but there's the truth - pure and simple

Wow girl, I just learned a lot about you! I'm just cathing up--it's SO COOL that you guys signed on a house! Congrats!

I also didn't realize you had an ED, too! It seems like you have made amazing progress, and I just want you to know that you definitely serve as an inspiration to me to keep moving forward in my struggle so that I can one day be healthy enough to fulfill my biggest goal: being a mom :)

I'm sorry to hear of your health issues with this last pregnancy, but I know you can fight through this too!

I will have to tell my bro-in-law about the avocado stuff at Los Hermanos. He will be so excited! He's down at BYU and served a mission in Mexico, so he will be so stoked! xoxo

Wow Kashi, what a busy week! A lot is going on in your life right now, but it sounds like most of it is good.

I think you are right, there is no "try", although I say "I will try" a lot. Usually, that means my heart isn't in it.

Effort or results? I am not sure it is so simple. I would say effort though, because you cannot always dictate results in a short term time frame. Sure, in the long run they will be there, but we usually aren't motivated enough to do things for the long run.

Effort or results. I'm going to be wishy washy and say it's a combination of the two. Your efforts will get you results. Good effort = good result. No effort = bad result. When things get crazy, it's hard to stick with your plan, but you just do the best you can. That, in and of itself, is effort. Maybe not what you envisioned, but effort nonetheless.

Wow! Sounds like a hectic time for you. I think during times like that most of my effort goes into making it through the day and results get pushed over to the wayside.

Perhaps during the stressful times you can change your focus so that there are results.

Instead of I will sleep x number of hours you might say I will take care of my sick child.

Instead of I worked out you could go with I packed six boxes.

I am sure you understand what I am getting at. Just because you didn't see results from the goals you set, you definitely achieved other things. When your life settles down you can put the focus back on you. Not that you shouldn't be important, but sometimes reality puts our needs second.

I know that it is so frustrating to feel out of control with life. It happens to me all the time and it's not easy or fun. I hope that you will just make the best decisions you can day by day. Focus on the important things in life, like your family and your health. I know that's easier said than done, but you can do it!

Stay strong and hang in there! {hugs}

As long as you don't give up, you are STILL making efforts, that will end up with results.

That's what I believe anyway, because I gave up and gained all my weight loss back. :-(

I think effort is paramount. Results are important, but sometimes the impact of lots of effort isn't seen immediately, or it's seen in other ways. I think it's important to make sure you put in the effort in both the input and the output of calories.
