comfort food

I think as the days get colder and the nights get longer I have the tendency to turn to comfort food to 'warm' me heart and soul... what comfort food do you guys like?

I grew up in Maine with big warm bowls of clam chowder and whoopie pies.

Then we moved to Utah and I enjoyed classic hearty meals of roast and funeral potatoes.

Now that I'm a mother and get to make my own meals we tend to lean toward mexican meals enchiladas and asada tacos...and salsa - mmm my favorite!

Because things have been kinda sucky lately (no house yet) I want some 'good for you' comfort food - any thoughts?

todays report:
sleep: 4 hours (don't ask)
exercise: rest day
water: about 80oz!!!!! getting there
food:
2:00pm Kashi Vegetable Bake
6:30 pm asada tacos with homemade salsa, salad, feta and yummy lime juice loads of cilantro
11:00 pm popcorn

hmmm... think I fell off the wagon, I guess I need to work harder on handling stress :)

My problem with good-for-you comfort food is that it never quite satisfies like the real thing. One thing that I love is fresh baked bread. Bake it in the morning, have a slice, then give the rest to your husband to take to work. Something like pumpkin bread. Yum.

Hi Natalie. One word for you - SOUP. A big pan of homemade veg soup. Nothing like it.

Best wishes,
Bearfriend xx

I know how stressful buying a house can be, it was for us. We actually put money down on a house only to have the bank (it was a foreclosure) change their mind 2 1/2 weeks later. Anyway, we love our house and we've had it for more than 3 years. It will happen eventually.

ps. Oddly I don't think I've ever had a woopie pie.

Food is sometimes my comfort food. Yeah, all of it. There are some things I eat more when I am stressed, but just consuming food is my problem.

Great job on the water intake! I know you'll get past this house hunting detour. My wife and I spent 3 months before we finally got a great house (oir first, but definitely not a started home--though that was our price range--God blessed us, and I know he already has you with your wonderful family...the house is on its way! :)
